French Riviera Golf Charter: Four Rounds From a Yacht in One Week (2027)

Eight days from Cannes on a crewed yacht with a round at the Old Course, Beauvallon, Royal Mougins and Monte-Carlo. The yacht moves while you play.

Four rounds on four different courses, from the Old Course of 1891 to the Monte-Carlo Golf Club high above Monaco. Seven nights at anchor, one week from Cannes on a crewed yacht. That's the whole idea.

On golf days the yacht moves on while you play: the crew takes her to the next bay, a van brings you there after lunch. Your clubs stay in the van all week. In between you get the Lérins Islands, the red rocks of the Estérel, the beach clubs of Pampelonne, Cap d'Antibes, Villefranche and Cap Ferrat.

Below is the full route, day by day, with the courses, drive times, green fees, the beach clubs along the way and what the week costs. Everything is also in our free PDF brochure, with a route map for every day, photos of each course and a cost breakdown based on a real yacht. You can download it further down this page.

How a golf charter works

A golf charter is an ordinary crewed yacht charter planned around tee times. You book the yacht for the week. We build the route so the golf days land where the courses are, with a good anchorage close by.

A golf day looks like this:

  • 07:30: Breakfast on board, at anchor.

  • 08:30: The tender takes you ashore. The van is waiting with your clubs already in the back.

  • 09:30: Tee off. Allow four and a half hours for the round.

  • 14:00: Lunch at the clubhouse.

  • 15:30: The van drops you where the yacht now waits, in the next bay.

We plan every golf charter to the same standard:

  • Day one stays short. You board at 12:00 and you're at anchor fifteen minutes later.

  • With guests on board, never more than about an hour and a half at sea in a day on this route. The repositioning is done by the crew while you play.

  • The anchorage comes first. We pick the bay for the evening, then the course, keeping the drive under an hour.

  • One van with one driver for the whole week. Clubs never come on board.

  • Non-golfers stay on the yacht for the ride to the next bay, or the chase boat takes them to a beach club.

We use the same approach for our Mallorca golf charter, which goes once round the island with four rounds.

The route at a glance

Cannes → Lérins Islands → Rade d'Agay → Pampelonne → Baie des Canoubiers → La Garoupe → Villefranche → Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat → Cannes.

Eight days, about 100 nautical miles: west from Cannes to Saint-Tropez, then east past Cannes to Cap Ferrat, then back. About 66 of those miles are with you on board; the crew covers the other 31 while you're on the course. The four rounds are at the Old Course in Mandelieu, Beauvallon, Royal Mougins and the Monte-Carlo Golf Club.

The PDF has this map in print quality, plus a smaller map under every day showing that day's sea legs with the van route.

Day 1: Cannes to the Lérins Islands

Saint-Honorat in the Lérins Islands off Cannes, with yachts at anchor in the channel

You board in Cannes at 12:00. Your luggage goes to the cabins, your golf bags go to the van. Fifteen minutes later you're at anchor between Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat, the two islands off the Croisette.

Lunch is on deck. In the afternoon the water toys come out, or the tender takes you ashore to the Fort Royal on Sainte-Marguerite. On Saint-Honorat the monks of Lérins Abbey still make wine. For lunch or dinner ashore, La Guérite on Sainte-Marguerite cooks over a wood fire and sends its boat to collect you from the yacht.

Passage: about 15 minutes, 3 nm. Night: at anchor at the Lérins Islands.

Day 2: The Old Course, then Agay

Umbrella pine and flag on a fairway at the Old Course Cannes-Mandelieu golf club

Breakfast at anchor, then the tender into Cannes, where the van is waiting. The Old Course at Mandelieu is 18 minutes away. It was laid out in 1891 with backing from Grand Duke Michael of Russia. Some 4,000 pines line the fairways; part of the course lies across the Siagne river, reached by a small ferry.

While you play, the crew takes the yacht west along the Estérel to the Rade d'Agay, about 10 nm. After lunch the van follows the coast road there in 40 minutes. The bay sits below red porphyry cliffs that glow at sunset.

Golf: Old Course, van 18 + 40 minutes. Night: Rade d'Agay.

Day 3: The Estérel to Pampelonne

The Île d'Or and its red stone tower off Cap Dramont in the Estérel

No golf today. A morning swim off Cap Dramont, opposite the Île d'Or with its red stone tower. Then about an hour south across the Gulf of Fréjus to Pampelonne, the long sandy beach below Ramatuelle.

Pampelonne is where the Saint-Tropez beach clubs are. Club 55 has been on the sand since 1955; La Réserve à la Plage and Loulou are along the same beach. Most of them send a boat to collect you from the yacht. The night is spent at anchor off the beach.

Passage: about 1 hour, 15 nm. Night: at anchor off Pampelonne.

Day 4: Beauvallon, then Saint-Tropez

Aerial view of the fairways at Golf de Beauvallon with the Gulf of Saint-Tropez behind

Ashore after breakfast. Beauvallon is 23 minutes by road, at Grimaud on the far side of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. A short, tree-lined par 69 founded in 1926, with views across the gulf.

While you play, the yacht rounds the cape to the Baie des Canoubiers, next to the town. After lunch the van drops you in Saint-Tropez in 18 minutes for an afternoon in the old port and La Ponche. Les Graniers, in a cove at the end of the bay, cooks fish over a wood fire. Our Saint-Tropez restaurant guide has more tables for the evening.

Golf: Beauvallon, van 23 + 18 minutes. Night: Baie des Canoubiers.

Day 5: East to Cap d'Antibes

Pine-backed rocks and clear water on the coast of Cap d'Antibes

The longest run of the week, about an hour and a half. The yacht heads back east past the red rocks of the Estérel, then south of the Lérins Islands to round Cap d'Antibes.

You anchor in the bay of La Garoupe, below the lighthouse. Plage Keller on the beach is known for its lobster salad. Further along the cape, the tender can drop you at the jetty of the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc.

Passage: about 1.5 hours, 28 nm. Night: at anchor in the bay of La Garoupe.

Day 6: Royal Mougins, then Villefranche

Fairway and lake at Royal Mougins Golf Club with the hotel and hills behind

The tender drops you at La Garoupe beach. Royal Mougins is 32 minutes inland, in a quiet valley above Cannes. Robert von Hagge laid it out in 1993: par 71 over 6,004 metres.

While you play, the crew takes the yacht across the Baie des Anges to Villefranche, about 11 nm. After lunch the van brings you there in 50 minutes. Villefranche is an old town built straight onto its harbour; La Mère Germaine has served fish on the quay since 1938.

Golf: Royal Mougins, van 32 + 50 minutes. Night: Villefranche.

Day 7: Monte-Carlo, then Cap Ferrat

Green on the Monte-Carlo Golf Club on Mont Agel with the Mediterranean behind

The round of the week. The van climbs to Mont Agel in 29 minutes. The Monte-Carlo Golf Club sits about 900 metres up, in France above Monaco. Willie Park Jr. laid it out in 1911; it hosted the Monte-Carlo Open from 1984. The views run down over Monaco to the sea.

While you play, the yacht moves round the point to Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. The van brings you down in 33 minutes. For a last long lunch, the tender can run you to Monte-Carlo Beach, where Elsa holds a Michelin star. Dinner is at anchor off Saint-Jean.

Golf: Monte-Carlo, van 29 + 33 minutes. Night: Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.

Day 8: Back to Cannes

Pastel houses of Le Suquet above the old port of Cannes

A last swim off Cap Ferrat, breakfast on deck, then about an hour west along the coast, past Nice and Cap d'Antibes. You're off the yacht in Cannes by 12:00, with time for lunch on the Croisette before the 40-minute drive to Nice airport.

Passage: about 1 hour, 20 nm.

The route assumes settled weather. With a strong easterly, the captain swaps a night at Pampelonne for the more sheltered Baie des Canoubiers; the golf days stay as planned. The full plan is in the PDF.

The four golf courses

We picked these four for how they play, how they spread along the coast and how close they sit to a good anchorage. Green fees below are per player for 18 holes, from each club's published 2026 rates.

  • Old Course Cannes-Mandelieu, west of Cannes. 18 holes, founded 1891, open all year. €150, buggy €60.

  • Beauvallon, Grimaud on the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. Par 69, 5,229 m, founded 1926. €120 from May to mid-October, €95 the rest of the year, buggy €50. Maximum handicap 36.

  • Royal Mougins, above Cannes. Par 71, 6,004 m, Robert von Hagge, 1993. €130 in low season, €150 in high season.

  • Monte-Carlo Golf Club, Mont Agel, La Turbie. Willie Park Jr., 1911. €180 on weekdays, €220 at weekends. Maximum handicap 35 on weekdays, 32 at weekends.

Bring a handicap certificate. If a course is full on your date, Golf de Valescure near Agay or Golf de Cannes-Mougins are the alternates.

Beach clubs along the way

Lunch tables under parasols at La Réserve à la Plage on Pampelonne beach

Half the appeal of this coast is lunch ashore. These are the places we'd put on the list, all checked as open for the 2026 season. Most open from April or May to October. The crew books your table from the yacht.

  • Lérins Islands: La Guérite on Sainte-Marguerite, with its own boat to collect you.

  • Pampelonne: Club 55, on the beach since 1955; La Réserve à la Plage, with fish over a wood fire; Loulou, Italian and southern French; Bagatelle for a long lunch with a DJ.

  • Saint-Tropez: Les Graniers in the Canoubiers bay; La Ponche on the old town's small beach.

  • Cap d'Antibes: Plage Keller on La Garoupe beach; the Eden-Roc grill at the Hôtel du Cap, with its own jetty.

  • Villefranche: La Mère Germaine on the harbour quay.

  • Cap Ferrat and Monaco: Plage de Passable on the west side of the cape; Monte-Carlo Beach, where Elsa holds a Michelin star.

What a French Riviera golf charter costs

The yacht is the biggest line. Crewed yachts based on the Riviera start from about €10,000 a week for a small sailing yacht; BELLA DONNA, the 33-metre Riva in our brochure, is from €128,000. On top of the charter fee come:

  • VAT at 20% on the charter fee, as the charter starts in France.

  • APA, an advance of about 25 to 35% of the charter fee for fuel, food, drinks, moorings. Whatever isn't spent comes back to you. Our APA guide explains how it works. Our guide to what a MYBA charter includes covers the rest.

  • Crew gratuity of 10 to 15% of the charter fee, at your discretion. More in our guide to tipping yacht crew.

The golf comes on top of that:

  • Green fees: about €600 per golfer for the four rounds.

  • Buggies: €50 to €60 per buggy per round.

  • Van with driver: a Sprinter, so a full group fits with their bags, from about €650 for an 8-hour day. About €2,600 for the four golf days.

The PDF works the full week through with BELLA DONNA as the example: charter fee, VAT, APA, golf, van, gratuity, line by line.

When to go

The courses on this route are open all year. For a week that is half golf, half water, May, June and September are the sweet spot: the sea is warm, the beach clubs are open, the mornings on the course are cooler. July and August work too, with early tee times; they're hotter and busier on the water.

Tee times book up in season, so they're reserved as soon as your dates are set.

Which yacht for a golf charter?

BELLA DONNA, a 33.5-metre Riva 110 Dolcevita motor yacht, at anchor on the French Riviera

Any crewed yacht works for this route. The legs are short, the anchorages are well known, the whole week is about 100 nm.

A fast motor yacht suits the Riviera particularly well: she covers the longest leg in an hour and a half, which leaves the afternoons free. Stabilisers that work at anchor matter on a week spent in open bays. Our guide to choosing between a catamaran, motor yacht or sailing yacht goes through the trade-offs.

The PDF uses BELLA DONNA, a 2025 Riva for ten guests with six crew, as the example yacht, with three Antibes-based alternatives. You can browse more on our South of France charter page.

Common Questions

What is a golf yacht charter on the French Riviera?

A crewed yacht charter planned around tee times. You live on the yacht for the week, at anchor in a different bay each night. On golf days the tender takes you ashore, where a van drives you to the course; while you play, the crew moves the yacht to the next bay.

Which golf courses can you play from a yacht on the Côte d'Azur?

Our 8-day route from Cannes plays the Old Course at Mandelieu, Beauvallon on the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, Royal Mougins above Cannes and the Monte-Carlo Golf Club on Mont Agel. Each one is under an hour by road from that night's anchorage. Golf de Valescure or Golf de Cannes-Mougins are the alternates if a course is full.

How do golf clubs get from the yacht to the course?

By van. One van with a driver picks up the golf bags in Cannes on the first day, keeping them until the last round. The tender takes you ashore each golf morning, where the van is waiting with the clubs.

When is the best time for a golf charter in the South of France?

May, June and September. The courses are open all year, but in those months the sea is warm, the beach clubs are open and the mornings on the course are cooler than in July and August.

How much does a golf yacht charter on the French Riviera cost?

Crewed yachts based on the Riviera start from about €10,000 a week, plus 20% French VAT on the charter fee, an APA of about 25 to 35% for running costs and a customary crew tip of 10 to 15%. Green fees for four rounds come to about €600 per golfer; a van with driver costs about €2,600 for four golf days.

Which beach clubs can you reach by yacht near Saint-Tropez?

At Pampelonne, Club 55, La Réserve à la Plage, Loulou and Bagatelle are all on the route. Most send a boat to collect you from the yacht. Further along the coast there's Plage Keller on Cap d'Antibes and Monte-Carlo Beach near Monaco.

Can non-golfers come on a golf charter?

Yes. Non-golfers stay on board while the yacht moves to the next bay, with the water toys to themselves, or the chase boat takes them to a beach club for lunch.

Who books what

Frontier Yachting arranges the yacht charter. Tee times with the van are booked by the captain or a local golf concierge, then paid from the APA or settled with them directly. That keeps the week simple: one charter contract, with the golf handled on the coast.

Want to see the whole week before you decide? Download the PDF on this page. If you'd rather talk dates, send us your dates with the number of golfers and non-golfers. We'll come back with yachts that fit, with a route built around your tee times.
