OPTIMIST
OPTIMIST is een Swan 78, getekend door German Frers en te water gelaten in 2024. Met 24 meter lengte, een 4 meter diepe racekiel en dubbele roeren is zij een echte cruiser-racer van een werf die ze bouwt sinds de jaren zestig. De rompvorm is ontleend aan offshore-raceontwikkeling: breed aan het hek boven de waterlijn, smal waar het ertoe doet eronder. Het resultaat is een zeiljacht dat met overtuigende autoriteit beweegt op open water.
Drie hutten met eigen badkamer bieden slaapplaats aan zes gasten, verdeeld over twee tweepersoonscabines en een twin. De indeling is eenvoudig en goed geproportioneerd, met voldoende privacy voor koppels die samen reizen en genoeg gedeelde ruimte in de salon en kuip om de groep verbonden te houden. Een bemanning van twee runt het schip in de rustige, vakkundige stijl waar eigenaar-geëxploiteerde Swan-charters om bekendstaan.
Het open hek en zwemplatform brengen gasten op waterniveau zodra de zeilen neerkomen. Het waterspeelgoed is doelgericht zonder overdaad: een bijboot met 20 pk, twee paddleboards, een tube, visuitrusting en acht sets snorkelmateriaal. Dit is een jacht waar het zeilen zelf de hoofdrol speelt.
OPTIMIST chartert vanuit Antigua door de Leeward- en Windward-eilanden onder BVI-vlag. Ze brengt een gloednieuwe Frers-romp, Caribische passaatwinden en een bemanning die weet hoe ze het beste uit beide haalt.

An APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance) is a pre-paid amount given to the yacht to cover costs like food & drinks on board, fuel, and mooring fees. At the end of your charter, we'll provide you with an itemized breakdown of the expenses, and any unused funds will be refunded to you.
Your Captain will keep you updated if you're close to exceeding your budget. If necessary, they'll discuss how to proceed, which usually involves a simple bank transfer to replenish the allowance.
We recommend around 10-15% of the charter fee as gratuity for the crew. It's thoughtful to prepare a thank-you card or envelope to make the process easier.
