BUNDALONG

Summer: French PolynesiaWinter: New Zealand
1 / 29

French Polynesia is one of the hardest charter grounds to crew well: distances are vast, infrastructure is sparse, and the weather windows matter. BUNDALONG works these waters year-round, a Sunreef 80 sailing catamaran built in Poland in 2019, refitted in 2023, and based in the South Pacific with a crew of four led by Captain Colin Maslen. Maslen comes from the Australian Navy and competitive offshore racing (Sydney to Hobart), and he's also a boat builder by trade, which means the yacht stays in condition.

The Sunreef 80 hull gives her 11.5 metres of beam and over 3,700 square feet of living space spread across three deck levels. Four en-suite cabins sleep eight guests, each with a walk-around queen berth at floor level and a rain shower.

Two F5 Sea Bobs and an E-foil Lyft handle the powered toys, with a wing foil for the wind-driven side. Wakeboard, water skis, SUP, snorkel gear, dive gear, and fishing tackle fill out the locker. The tender is a 2023 Novurania DL550 (5.5 metres, 130HP), built for lagoon transfers and beach landings across the atolls.

She cruises at 8 knots under power with a top end of 14 under sail. The name is Aboriginal for "joined together," which fits a catamaran and fits the kind of charter she runs: families and groups, remote anchorages, long days in the water.

For 2025 she covers the Marquesas, Gambier Islands, and Fiji, with a captain who built boats before he started sailing them.

Key details to help you prepare for your charter experience.

An APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance) is a pre-paid amount given to the yacht to cover costs like food & drinks on board, fuel, and mooring fees. At the end of your charter, we'll provide you with an itemized breakdown of the expenses, and any unused funds will be refunded to you.

Your Captain will keep you updated if you're close to exceeding your budget. If necessary, they'll discuss how to proceed, which usually involves a simple bank transfer to replenish the allowance.

We recommend around 10-15% of the charter fee as gratuity for the crew. It's thoughtful to prepare a thank-you card or envelope to make the process easier.

We'll provide you with the Captain's contact details well ahead of your charter. We can also create a group chat with you and the Captain to go over any plans and preferences before you board.

We follow MYBA and CYBA contract standards, these internationally recognized agreements offer clarity and security throughout your charter experience.

If you're ever uncertain about what's included or have any questions, feel free to ask your broker at Frontier Yachting. We're here to ensure your charter experience is perfect.
