OPTIMIST is a Swan 78 drawn by German Frers and launched in 2024. At 24 metres with a 4-metre racing keel and twin rudders, she is a proper cruiser-racer from a yard that has been building them since the 1960s. The hull shape borrows from offshore racing development, wide at the stern above the waterline, narrow where it counts below, and the result is a sailing yacht that moves with genuine authority in open water.

Three en-suite cabins sleep six guests across two doubles and a twin. The layout is straightforward and well-proportioned, with enough privacy for couples travelling together and enough shared space in the saloon and cockpit for the group to stay connected. A crew of two runs the boat in the quiet, competent style that owner-operated Swan charters are known for.

The open transom and swim platform put guests at water level when the sails come down. Toys are focused rather than excessive: a 20HP dinghy, two paddleboards, a tube, fishing gear, and eight sets of snorkel equipment. This is a yacht where the sailing itself is the main event.

OPTIMIST charters from Antigua through the Leeward and Windward Islands under BVI flag. She brings a brand-new Frers hull, Caribbean trade winds, and a crew who know how to get the most out of both.

Key details to help you prepare for your charter experience.

An APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance) is a pre-paid amount given to the yacht to cover costs like food & drinks on board, fuel, and mooring fees. At the end of your charter, we'll provide you with an itemized breakdown of the expenses, and any unused funds will be refunded to you.

Your Captain will keep you updated if you're close to exceeding your budget. If necessary, they'll discuss how to proceed, which usually involves a simple bank transfer to replenish the allowance.

We recommend around 10-15% of the charter fee as gratuity for the crew. It's thoughtful to prepare a thank-you card or envelope to make the process easier.

We'll provide you with the Captain's contact details well ahead of your charter. We can also create a group chat with you and the Captain to go over any plans and preferences before you board.

We follow MYBA and CYBA contract standards, these internationally recognized agreements offer clarity and security throughout your charter experience.

If you're ever uncertain about what's included or have any questions, feel free to ask your broker at Frontier Yachting. We're here to ensure your charter experience is perfect.
